Tree of Butterflies

This is my most recent art project I have completed. I carved out these butterflies and then I colored the butterflies with an ink roller. After the butterflies were inked I then placed the butterfly stamp onto the printing press and rolled it a couple of times. As you can see I individually cut out all the butterflies. I painted a green tree and then glued down all the butterflies creating a movement of butterflies left to
right, top to bottom. There is obviously a repetition in the butterflies through out the tree. I tried to use a variation of colors while places the butterflies. I added glitter the the middle of some butterflies creating a dream like look. Over all this project was loads of fun!

2 Point- Perspective

2 point perspective house that I drew. This happens to be a painting of my own house. I have different colored rocks on the bottom of the house and also different colored shingles on the top. This project i thought was challenging. The most difficult part was drawing everything out. Painting was the most fun stage of the project. There is repetition in both the rocks and shingles. There is texture on the edges of the grass which I tied to show. There is  a balance of colors in the painting and the shingles have the dominance of the house. I wanted the sky to show movement and I actually accomplished it! Over all this project came out perfect, and is now framed in my room!

Nature

This is my last mixed media project I made. I first started of with the all brown mountain on the left as you can see this mountain is the odd ball of the two other mountains. When I got to the second mountain I decided to use horizontal lines to create a good texture on the mountains. The bottom of the mountains are forest trees, which turned out fine. Then we have a river leading down to a huge lake. I wish that my lake looks more like a lake and not a flake blue thing haha. there is good movement thought going down into the huge lake.

Winter Hummingbird

This is what I call a winter hummingbird. I felt like the back round of the hummingbird was beautiful, I love the color purple so I used purple paint and watered it down to get the water color effect. The hummingbird also has watered down paint for its body. I outlined it in brown and blended the light green and blue to give it unity. The brown trees on the corner of the page has colorful balls on the end of each branch which I thought gave the project a brighter feeling. I used silver glitter around the back round giving the purple a more winter feeling, like snow flakes.

Mixed Media Flower Design

This is the second mixed media project. I do not like this one at all, I thought the colors did not go well. The only thing I like about this project is the Henna designs through out the whole page. There are a couple of reasons why I do not like this project. 1. the orange and blue do not look good together what so ever. 2. the coral colored back round was too much and I felt that it did not match well with the purple and teal color in the Henna designs. There is rhythm in the three tear drop shapes with the swirls. I thought there was a great deal of balance with one flower on top and the other on bottom. I used color3ed pencil in the flower petals and marker for the rest. I wish that I could of chose my colors more wisely, but I like the deigns I created.

Mixed Media Lava Lamp

This is one of my mixed media projects as  you can see it's a lava lamp! I love it, it originally was painted on a page from lord of the flies then pasted onto a piece of 8 1/2 by 11 piece of paper. I had the idea to cut the shape of the lava lamp out to make it more realistic. I chose purple and orange because I liked the contrast of the two colors together. You can tell that the orange is the dominance color and purple is subordinate. I tried to use a dark grey to shade the left side of the base to make it look realistic but it didn't turn out how I expected. Overall this lava lamp was one of my favorite.
